Researching the best Scottie Pippen highlights is a fun assignment. One of the best small forwards to ever play the game, Pippen is an NBA legend. He played 17 professional NBA seasons, including 12 for the Bulls, and was a seven-time NBA All-Star. His #33 jersey number was retired by the Bulls and he was inducted into to the NBA Hall of Fame.

He was a prime example of an all-around player: shooting, passing, rebounding, defending, you name it! He was a big part of the unstoppable Jordan-Pippen-Rodman trio that dominated the NBA during the 1990s. Let’s check out some of the best Scottie Pippen highlights from his incredible career:

Pippen Guards Magic Johnson - 1991 Finals Game 2

Before the start of 1991 NBA Finals, everyone talked about the Michael Jordan vs. Magic Johnson matchup. However, during Game 2, Jordan picked up two fouls early in the first quarter which forced Pippen to guard Magic for the rest of the game.

Magic Johnson’s stats tell the whole story: he shot 4-for-13 from the field and was a non-factor. It was Pippen’s fourth professional season and he managed to become an NBA household name based on performances like this.

Bulls vs Blazers - Bulls Win Second Title - 1992 NBA Finals Game 6

Going into the final quarter, Bulls faced a 15-point deficit during Game 6 of the NBA Finals in ’92. The quarter started with Pippen and the reserves on the court. Scottie Pippen knew he had to take over. He led the Bulls on a 14-2 run before the rest of the starters returned to help seize their second title!

Pippen finished the game with 26 points, five rebounds and 9/17 shooting from the field. Jordan still managed to outscore him by adding 33 points. Pippen’s amazing hustle without Jordan on the court shows just how amazing of a player he is. This title was celebrated in Chicago, on their home court (unlike their first title), making it that more special for the team.

1994 All-Star Game MVP Highlights

The 1994 All-Star game came after Pippen’s first season of playing without Jordan as a teammate. And guess what, many consider this season to be the best individual season of his career. Not only that, but he was also third in the season’s MVP voting, behind Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson.

With 29 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals in the All-Star game, Pippen gave it his all on the court and further established himself as a NBA superstar. No list of Scottie Pippen highlights is complete without his All-Star MVP performance. Check out the highlights!

Bulls vs Jazz - Bulls Win 5th Title - 1997 NBA Finals Game 6

Finishing the game with 23 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, Scottie Pippen shared the heavy lifting with Michael Jordan during Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. Even though Jordan was named the series MVP, Pippen was amazing in this series.

Pippen’s contribution on both ends of the court is what brought the Bulls their 5th NBA title. With five seconds left on the clock, Steve Kerr’s go-ahead three-pointer gave the Bulls an 88-86 advantage. Utah had a chance at the end of the game, but Pippen intercepted Bryon Russell’s pass and got the ball to Kukoc for the title-winning slam! A list of Scottie Pippen highlights is not complete without this game.

Career High Against the Denver Nuggets - 1997

Scoring your career high is a special moment in every player’s career. Pippen’s scored his 47-point career-high against the Nuggets in February 1997. He could have gone for fifty but Phil Jackson decided to sub him off with one minute remaining on the clock, which upset some fans.

His points came relatively slow at first, with 16 points from the first half. It was the third quarter when Pippen exploded and racked up 18 points with 6-of-7 from the field. Pippen said that his shooting was nothing spectacular and that his teammates were able to find him open each time. Despite taking him off, Phil Jackson applauded his performance and praised his strength and stamina, mentioning how he gives him more minutes than Jordan.

Jordan - Pippen - Rodman - Red Assault

Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman played together from 1995-1998 and they formed a deadly trio that secured three consecutive titles in ’96, ’97, and ’98. Their connection was out of this world. With Jordan in charge of scoring, Rodman rebouding, and Pippen being an all-around superstar, their legacy will be remembered for as long as the NBA exists. Scottie Pippen - Ultimate Defender

Player statistics are often offence-oriented, with points and assists being the leading factors. Rebounds, steals, and blocks are recorded but they don’t tell the full story. Pippen was an absolute beast on defence. He challenged every shot and pass and his teammates love him for it.

His signature move was intercepting a pass, leading the offence, and scoring a basket in transition. Check out this highlight reel of his defence:

Scottie Pippen Dunks on Patrick Ewing

A dunk really has to be special to have its name. Among Bulls fans, it’s known as “The Ewing Dunk”. During 1994 Eastern Conference Semifinals (Game 6), Pippen unleashed a monstrous dunk over Patrick Ewing, one of the league’s leaders in shot-blocking at that time.

The dunk was followed by a shove and Pippen staring him down on the floor. During his walk to his half of the court, he stopped to exchange trash talk with Spike Lee. Years later, Pippen singles out this dunk as the most disrespectful moment of his career. Check it out!

Bonus Video - The Trailer For The Last Dance

The Last Dance is ESPN’s documentary focusing on the Bulls during the 1997-98 season. During that season, the Chicago Bulls allowed an NBA Entertainment crew to follow them around. Some of that footage will be available in the documentary, as well as interviews with almost everyone involved. This includes the Bulls players, other players and staff in the NBA at the time, and celebrities involved with certain players. Check out the official Trailer below.
