Updated August 1, 2020

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends in football history. During his stellar nine-year career with the New England Patriots, Gronk amassed 521 receptions, 7,861 yards, and 79 touchdowns. He was one of quarterback Tom Brady’s go-to options. During their time together in New England, the duo helped the Pats win three Super Bowl titles. Putting together a list of the best Rob Gronkowski highlights is not easy!

Simply put, Gronk thrived in the New England system. The five-time Pro Bowler and four-time First-Team All-Pro ran over defenders. The man’s athleticism knew no bounds.

The good news: it seems Gronk has plenty of gas left in the tank. After serving a one-year hiatus, Gronk resumes his NFL career with Brady in Tampa Bay.

We went through his Gronk’s extensive highlight reel videos and came up with the five best

Gronk Sets Record-Breaking Day Vs. Washington Redskins

This was one of the early moments during Gronk’s career which set the tone for his penchant for breaking records. In fact, he set 16 NFL records for tight ends eight years later when he announced his one-year hiatus from football. Sixteen tight end records in a span of nine years? Incredible.

In 2011, Gronkowski was a second-year tight end who was no pushover. He was already one of Brady’s go-to guys. This game served as hard evidence: Gronk caught 10 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in New England’s 34-27 win over Washington. Few tight ends have shown the gracefulness of a ballerina when tiptoeing the sidelines. Gronk did it effortlessly in this game, to the astonishment of the Redskins fans in attendance.

Rob Gronkowski Takes It to the Colts

Not only was Rob Gronkowski strong as a bull, but he was also slippery as an eel. Only a few tight ends possess that kind of arsenal. The highlight footage below proves it.

In a Week 14 game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2014, Tom Brady called out the play on 3rd and 4 from Indy’s 26-yard line. At that point, the Pats had a 35-20 lead. They were looking for the insurance touchdown which would put away their arch rivals for good.

After Brady reared back for the throw, he found Gronkowski in single coverage at the 22-yard line. Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson tried to tackle Gronk, to no avail. Two other Colts defenders tried to converge on Gronk, but he broke loose.

For his part, cornerback Darius Butler made a half-hearted effort to take down Gronk, but he knew better than that – he was eight inches shorter and almost 80 pounds lighter. The Pats tight end strode to the end zone virtually unscathed, spiking the football with gusto. Gronk even told his teammates on the sidline afterward, “I don’t even know how I did that.”

Neither do we, Rob.

Gronk Takes It to the House vs. Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX

The Super Bowl XLIX showdown between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks is one of the best championship games in recent NFL history. Tom Brady and Co. were seeking their fourth Vince Lombardi Trophy.

On the other hand, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Rusell Wilson and his teammates were gunning for their second consecutive Super Bowl crown. It was like a heavyweight title bout – neither team gave an inch until the final horn sounded.

In the waning moments of the first half and the score tied at 7, Brady dropped back to pass from the Seahawks’ 25-yard line. It was a perfect spiral which found a streaking Gronkowski on a route along the right sideline. Seattle linebacker K.J. Wright had no chance.

Gronk’s touchdown gave the Patriots some momentum heading into halftime. Later on, cornerback Malcolm Butler’s last-second interception of an errant Russell Wilson pass sealed the deal for New England’s fourth Super Bowl title. The Pats prevailed, 28-24. Truly, it was a night for the ages for Gronk and his team.

Gronk’s Career Highlights With The New England Patriots

Some argue Rob Gronkowski is the best tight end in the history of the NFL. Is that a stretch? Hardly. Few tight ends are as prolific as Gronkowski in terms of catching the football and blocking.

You can mention Gronk in the same breath as John Mackey and Mike Ditka. On the other hand, if Gronk revives his career in Tampa Bay (barring unforeseen injury), he can catch up with the likes of Shannon Sharpe (815 receptions, 10,060 yards, and 62 touchdowns) and Tony Gonzalez (1,325 receptions, 15,127 yards, and 111 touchdowns).

We daresay this is the ultimate Gronk highlight reel – it captures just about every memorable moment during Gronk’s illustrious career with the Patriots. It starts off with his first career touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010. From there he bowls over countless defenders while scoring touchdowns. As the video winds down, you can see Gronk’s best moments during his Super Bowl appearances. We bet at this point you’ve probably lost count of his Gronk Spikes!

Top 10 Highlights of Rob Gronkowski’s Career

As the sub-title suggests, this video shows the best plays from Gronkowski’s career in New England. The video is from 2017, so it doesn’t include highlights of Super Bowl LIII (a game where Gronk had 87 yards on six receptions), a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Nevertheless, expect more of the same: Gronk’s freakish athleticism in full display. There’s no question when healthy he’s one of the most superbly-conditioned tight ends in the history of the game. Even if he’s surrounded by several linebackers, he finds a way to scamper for extra yardage using brute strength and deceptiveness. Oh, and did we mention exceptional footwork? You’ll see that in the No. 1 highlight.
