During the 2018 NFL Combine Lamar Jackson was expected to be a first round selection. The speed and talent he displayed at Louisville was off the charts. Scouts were eager to watch him at the Combine and many thought he could end up a top 10 pick. Then something happened no one expected: he skipped every drill that didn’t involve throwing. Scouts never got to see or time Lamar Jackson’s 40 yard dash.

The reason? Lamar was concerned that his 40 yard dash time might be too fast, leading teams to try and turn him into a wide receiver. He only wanted to play quarterback.

His decision caused him to drop down the draft board and he was selected 32nd. But he didn’t care. He knew his abilities and wanted a chance to play quarterback. The rest is history – after just two seasons he’s become one of the most electrifying players in the NFL and came close to winning the 2019 MVP award.

If you want to try and duplicate Lamar’s speed, we recommend starting with his shoes. During the 2019 season he wore the Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3.

If you’d rather just look like Lamar, his best and most popular jersey is the Baltimore Ravens purple and black jersey available right now at Fanatics. You can also find this jersey in Youth Sizes.

Finally, if you want to take your Lamar look to the next level, grab a pair of his signature Oakley Sunglasses. He became famous for wearing Oakley’s on the sideline during games. His look was even immortalized in several Lamar Jackson shirts that are a huge hit with Ravens fans.

Now you know the story behind Lamar Jackson’s 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. One of the best decisions he ever made!
