Introduction

The “Greek Freak” was an interesting pick for the Milwaukee Bucks at 15th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. It’s fair to say now that it was probably one of the best picks in the Bucks’ history. He quickly developed into an absolute beast on the court and opponents now fear his thunderous slam dunks and shattering blocks on the defensive side.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is widely known for his on-court prowess, but true Bucks fans know that off the court, he is probably the hardest worker in the NBA. They love the old-school mentality of Antetokounmpo and the fact that he refuses to train with players of different teams. It tells you a lot about his character and commitment to winning games.

Here’s our list of the greatest games of Giannis’ career so far:

Game #1: March 1 st , 2020 Hornets vs. Bucks: The 40-20-5 Game

This might be Giannis best game ever. He scored 41 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and had 6 assists in only 35 minutes of action. This is the fewest minutes played in a 40-20-5 game in the history of the league. He is also the youngest player since Charles Barkley in 1987 to achieve that feat. All of this came in a Bucks win over the Hornets. What is also very impressive from the reigning MVP is the fact that he scored his team’s last nine points to finish the game.

Game #2: March 17 th , 2019 Bucks vs. 76ers: Giannis’ Career High in Points

During the 2018-2019 season, Giannis exploded for 52 points against the Philadelphia 76ers, a career high. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and had 7 assists on the night, all of which were team-highs that game. What is maybe the most impressive about his performance is the fact that he did not turn the ball over once. He’s only the second player after Michael Jordan to have a 50-10-5 game with 0 turnovers. He was the best player on the court that night despite the loss. The Freak delivered a performance to solidify his case for NBA MVP that season, which was well deserved.

Game #4: January 4 th , 2017 Bucks vs. Knicks: The Buzzer Beater That Sank the Knicks

The title gives it away, but the fourth game on this list was the buzzer beater that Giannis shot to beat the Knicks 105-104 at MSG in 2017. It’s an impressive achievement given that the Bucks entered the fourth quarter with a 16-point deficit. Antetokounmpo finished the game with 27 points along with 13 rebounds to lead the Bucks to victory. It helped to build the identity of Giannis as one of the best players in the league and it won’t be the last buzzer beater of his career.

Game #5: November 21 st , 2019 Trail Blazers vs. Bucks: A Triple-Double to Re- member

Early in the 2019-2020 season Giannis had a career high in assists with 15 and also had a triple double with 24 points and 19 rebounds in a win against Portland. We all know the Freak is able to score at ease, but it’s also interesting to watch him set up his teammate and be a great team player. This stat line says a lot about his devotion to the game and his drive to make his teammates better.

Game #6: December 27 th , 2013 Nets vs. Bucks: Best Game From His Rookie Season

In this list, we have to include a game from Giannis’ rookie season because that season helped him become the player that he is today. In this particular game against the Nets, Giannis scored a season-high 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Not bad for a rookie. This was a promising game that gave hope to Bucks fans in a time when being a fan was not the hottest trend in the league. It’s amazing seeing flashes of the future MVP so early in his career. Game #7: February 17 th , 2019: Giannis’ Best All-Star Game

The Greek Freak’s more memorable All-Star game was 2019 when he was captain for the first time. We know the All-Star game is a bit different than a regular season game because players don’t display a lot of effort, but Giannis still delivered an incredible performance with 38 points (game high), 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. It’s fun to see Giannis perform well even when it doesn’t count in the standings. It’s the ideal opportunity to try different shots or different passes and the floor is usually wide open for players like Giannis to dominate.
