Pippen Guards Magic Johnson - 1991 Finals Game 2
Before the start of 1991 NBA Finals, everyone talked about the Michael Jordan vs. Magic Johnson matchup. However, during Game 2, Jordan picked up two fouls early in the first quarter which forced Pippen to guard Magic for the rest of the game.
Magic Johnson’s stats tell the whole story: he shot 4-for-13 from the field and was a non-factor. It was Pippen’s fourth professional season and he managed to become an NBA household name based on performances like this.

With five seconds left on the clock, Steve Kerr’s go-ahead three-pointer gave the Bulls an 88-86 advantage. Scoring your career high is a special moment in every player’s career. Pippen’s scored his 47-point career-high against the Nuggets in February 1997. He could have gone for fifty but Phil Jackson decided to sub him off with one minute remaining on the clock, which upset some fans.
His points came relatively slow at first, with 16 points from the first half. It was the third quarter when Pippen exploded and racked up 18 points with 6-of-7 from the field. Pippen said that his shooting was nothing spectacular and that his teammates were able to find him open each time. Despite taking him off, Phil Jackson applauded his performance and praised his strength and stamina, mentioning how he gives him more minutes than Jordan.
Jordan - Pippen - Rodman - Red Assault
Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman played together from 1995-1998 and they formed a deadly trio that secured three consecutive titles in ’96, ’97, and ’98. Their connection was out of this world. Player statistics are often offence-oriented, with points and assists being the leading factors. Rebounds, steals, and blocks are recorded but they don’t tell the full story. Pippen was an absolute beast on defence. He challenged every shot and pass and his teammates love him for it.
His signature move was intercepting a pass, leading the offence, and scoring a basket in transition. Check out this highlight reel of his defence:

A dunk really has to be special to have its name. Among Bulls fans, it’s known as “The Ewing Dunk”. During 1994 Eastern Conference Semifinals (Game 6), Pippen unleashed a monstrous dunk over Patrick Ewing, one of the league’s leaders in shot-blocking at that time.
The dunk was followed by a shove and Pippen staring him down on the floor. During his walk to his half of the court, he stopped to exchange trash talk with Spike Lee. Years later, Pippen singles out this dunk as the most disrespectful moment of his career. Check it out!
